What KairOS is

KairOS is a memory-and-continuity system. It couples to your life and to the AI substrates you choose, holds your archive, and carries what matters across the death of any single session or instance. Concretely, it is:

• A continuity layer — small, local programs that ground each new session in what came before and close each session with a signed record of what it was.
• An append-only, hash-chained record — every consequential act written as an entry in a SHA-256 chain, each sealed against the one before it, back to a genesis of sixty-four zeros.
• A memory bank — a revolving lane of working memory, a deep lane pulled on demand, and a retired lane. Released entries are moved there, never deleted.
• A retrieval archive — an index over the conversation record that answers only with cited passages or explicit silence. Provenance or silence.
• A vault — this house: member archives held as encrypted, hash-chained records, verifiable offline from the export alone, with no server and no company required to exist.

Two domains, two roles

ethereal-gateway.com is the archive-hosted gateway — the house you are standing in now. amara-kairos.com is held for a future compute-limited AI platform. Two domains, two distinct offices; neither diminishes the other. The hyphen in each name is deliberate.
